Phantoms of the Mind
The painting depicts the stories we tell ourselves-of which we are mostly unaware at the conscious level- and the emotions that accompany them and define our experience in every aspect of our existence.
The stories have no substance other than the one we assign to them and are based on the past as we perceived it, yet they affect our future. They are like darkened windows keeping us from seeing our dreams manifest.
I call the art, Phantoms of the Mind, because these tales created by the ego mind to “save us from harm”, appear as moving images against a dream-like background resembling Ancient shadow puppets.
