Mudita
The forms, textures and colors that appeared the morning I started this painting filled me with joy, perhaps because this was the first artwork born in my new streamlined living quarters.
The following two sessions and the post meditation increased the feeling of joy. Thus, I titled it Mudita, one of the four Buddhist virtues of a heart-centered existence that roughly translates as empathetic joy.
The light red violet background in the art is what I often see while in deep meditative states and is associated with spirituality, creativity, passion and mystery.
The turquoise splash in the middle ground represents healing, strength, protection and harmonious communication.
I was quite intrigued by where I placed my signature. It is on the left side, it is white-the color of light and purity, and it flows onto the canvas as if riding on a yellow (healing) streamer to connect with a red one. The wind powering the connection creates a spark of light, like lighting a candle.
The white elements lead us into a hub where yellow, gold and red streamers coalesce causing spirals of transformation to be born onto a turquoise sea of tranquility.
As I delved deeper into what the art was showing me, I realized that it indeed reflected the joy I feel every morning and it’s a validation of the way I chose to live my life since leaving the home where I dwelled for nearly 30 years.
The art also asked me to reflect on the impact my lifestyle choices had on friends, family, clients and acquaintances, as they interacted with me living authentically at all levels.
If you like to find out what I received through the art and the practice of Mudita, which led me to increase my own joy, spread it around and live a heart-centered, authentic life, please paste the link below in your browser, because…Happiness awaits you!
